Mullet - hot hairstyle for 2009

mullet hairstyleI know, I know: when you here mullet you get goose bumps! But the mullet I am talking about is nothing like McGyver's or Kim Wilde's. This season mullet is getting an update!

Mullet "how to's":
The cut is pretty straight forward: your stylist should thin out hair at the top, leaving few longer sections falling over the shoulders. Make sure that your stylist uses a razor - this way the cut will last longer.
Styling: Mullet looks great when it's a bit messy so go for pomades and matt finish wax like TIGI Catwalk Catfight Texturizer.
Is it for you? Mullet works best for girls with fine, supple hair. (I deliberately say girls - men should stay away from this hairstyle!) Mullet suits best oval faces and long necks. Hair Craft recommends soft make-up to go with it - you don't want to look like you just escaped from the set of "Life on Mars" :)

Kate Moss was seen last week sporting this medium length bob. No more fringe and the colour is the most fashionable this season platinum blonde.
Kate seems to have temporarily quit her trade mark messy hairstyle and went for stylish, sleek do with side parting - I think she looks like a spitting image of Faye Dunaway in "Bonnie and Clyde"!Faye Dunaway

Kate Moss medium bob "how to's":
1. Cut - the simpler the better. Hair should be cut just above your shoulder;
2. Colour - If you are natural blond - good on you. If not, think twice before reaching for peroxide - blonde is not everyone's colour!
3. Styling - Give your hair some volume with volume spray or conditioner and blow dry it smooth. I wouldn't advise using straighter as we are not looking for this dead straight look!

Medium length hair ideas - braids

Wed, 08/20/2008 - 15:37 | 1 comment

braidsBraids are one of most popular hair trends in 2008. So if are bored with your ponytail or want to give your old up do a new twist braid might be just the thing you're after!

You want need any special salon tools to pull that one off, all you need is a brush and two hands! Some people with curly or very long hair might find it easier to braid hair when it's slightly damp.
Making a Dutch braid other known as French braid, is easier than it seems. To achieve "hair crown":

1. Divide a small section of hair where you want the braid to start into three even sections and comb them over.
2. Cross the sections as when making a normal braid and pull them to tighten the braid.
3. Using the pointed end of a rat tail comb, lift a small section of hair on the right by drawing a line against the scalp from the hairline to the middle of the braid.
4. Add the new section of hair to the existing section on the right and then cross it over the middle section; tighten the plait.
5. Repeat that but on the opposite side.
6. Continue the process alternating right and left sections over the middle section, tightening each plait as you make it, until you reach the hairline. Secure the end of the braid with a hair-safe ponytail holder or continue weaving a normal braid to the ends of the hair.

Agyness Deyn new hairstyle

Agyness Deyn new hairstyleWhat happened with the trademark pixie haircut?
It looks like Agyness Deyn had enough of copycats (think: Pixie Geldof) and decided to grow her hair...Few days ago she's been seen sporting this minimalistic hairstyle: bob a la monk.
Unusual, blunt fringe and hair trimmed quite high on the neck makes me think of my kindergarten times and the horror of bowl cuts I had to endure. It's not a very flattering hairstyle and most of the population should avoid it.
Do you think Agyness made a wise choice? But I guess you are not becoming a fashion icon for making safe or wise choices?

Mid length hairstyles are perfect of those of you who are looking for a change but don't want anything too radical! Look at these two examples: both Ann Hathaway and Liv Tyler chopped off their fabulous locks recently instantly transforming their looks!
How to wear it? However you want to! Wavy or poke straight, softened with layers and/or fringe or all even, centre parted or side swept...And the best part is that your hair is still long enough for an up do or a pony tail!

I know what you may think: what summer? But keep in mind I started this article when the skies were blue and the temperature way above 20 - which was yesterday. And with hope for more days like that to come I will review the hottest summer hairstyle trends.

1. Boho plait - for long hair
plateThis hairstyle is perfect for a relaxed weekend in the sun! Distribute smoothing cream through damp hair, then blow-dry using a round brush. Make a deep side part. Take three sections from the part area and French braid across your hairline (leave some strands out near the front to weave in). Secure with an elastic. Keep your unbraided hair bouncy with a curl-enhancing spray.

2. Sleek and simple - mid length
Kate BosworthThis hairstyle is a great way of combining low maintenance and style! Perfect for office or dinner in posh restaurant. Use straightening serum and blow dry your hair. Always remember to protect your hair against heat damage as key to this hairstyle is smoothness; no frizz ladies!!!

3. Short hair
Sienna MillerThe short hair is very in! If you are not ready to crop your hair really short, try leaving some longer layers for softer, more romantic look. Style your hair with texturing gum for extra messy finish.
During the extra hot days protect your short hair, especially sensitive to the damage caused by UV rays, by applying UV protection like Lanza Sun Daily UV Protector.
